As a musician/performer I am aware that being a part of a competitive performance group is a privilege and I am expected to abide by the following guidelines:
- To apply myself to my studies and maintain satisfactory grades with a minimum GPA of 2.0, as per district policy and to be enrolled in a minimum of six classes (which may include a community college course) and passing thirty credits per semester.
- San Ramon Valley High School supports the philosophy of zero tolerance for the use of alcohol, illegal drugs, or tobacco.
- Citizenship - Students are expected to follow the rules and policies of the school, school district and instrumental music director. A few examples of unacceptable behavior are: truancy, insubordination, fighting, vandalism, academic dishonesty, stealing, and violation of the rights of others. Consequences for displaying poor citizenship can result in a suspension ranging from one activity to one year based on the nature and level of severity as determined by the music director, assistant principal in charge of instrumental music and the principal.
- To participate in an instrumental competition or performance, a student must have attended a minimum of four periods of school on the day of the event (or if a weekend event, the previous school day). If a student has a medical appointment on the day of the activity, a note of verification from the physician must be presented to the music director.
- All transportation to events will be in accordance with the SRVUSD policies.
- Treat all competitors with respect, and exhibit positive school spirit.
- Students are personally responsible for all school equipment/uniforms checked out to them.
Standards of Behavior & Consequences:
Musicians/performers are prohibited from the possession, use, or sale of any form of tobacco, illegal drug/narcotic. Drug sale will result in expulsion from school.
Any student that it is determined has been under the influence of alcohol or drugs during campus activities or outside of school, will be removed from the competition/activity for the remainder of the school year.
Students may not use or possess tobacco or tobacco products. First offense will result in suspension from the next competition or event. Second offense will result in removal from participation in any further competitions or events.
Infractions and Consequences:
Musicians/Performers may be suspended and removed from a competition or event for infractions of the rules. In consultation with the Music Director and Assistant Principal an musician can be removed from the competition/event due to poor attendance, poor behavior and not following the school rules. |
